Painting Slayers by ekxw
More or less the flesh painting kit can be:
Base Colour = Dwarf flesh
first highlight = bleached bone (may be more yellow)
second highlight = white + pinch of flesh
first shadow = bestial brown
second shadow = scorched brown
Painting the flesh:
1) we have to paint the miniature with first base
2) we will mix the first base with the first light 80% 20% and we will highlight the part where the light should be.
3) we have to continue adding first highlight to the mix 70% first base 30 % first highlight
4) just we continue adding more first light to the mix, like 50% 50 %
5) Then we have to give the last highlight this time with the second highlight, it have to be in the upper parts.
6) Now we are going to start with the shadows, we have to mix first base 80% and first shadow 20%
7) now we will continue with the shadows the mix is the same that in the last step but 50% 50%m this step can be seen batter in the lower pics (the full body ones.)
8) now we will apply some more shadows this time first shadow + water, in the deeper parts.
9) At last we will give the deeper shadow with second shadow(scorched brown)
10)The last detail is just real purple to give the last shadow, don't know why but that colour gives a very realistic last shadow if its watered down.
Bronze:
1) Just apply neutral brown its the best for making a base for the gold.
2)just mix brown +scorched brown the mix its like you want, it to be, more dark or light.
3) now we will make a wash with scorched brown + water.
4) and then we will have to make a wash with black + water this give a more deep look.
if you want you can give some highlights to the weapon, but if you want to paint units this will take some time.
for the highlight i have used scorched brown + gold
Beard and Flesh:
in this section i will put bigger pics, this way i can show you were i apply the highlighting and the shadowing.
also i will explain how to paint the beard of the dwarf, i wont make incise in the how to paint gems or cloth, cause i have another step by step were i talk about it.
the steps are the same that in the face painting so every step here is explained in the face part (for the flesh i mean).
1) the base colour for the beard is made with scorched brown + blood red
2)we will ad more blood red to the mix a,d apply highlights, the deeper parts must show the base colour.
3) now we will highlight with blood red alone.
4) we will give some more highlights with blood red + blazing orange
5) then just highlight with blazing orange
6) And then we will have to start highlighting with blazing orange 70% + flesh 30%.
7) this time we will highlight with blazing orange 50% + flesh 50%
8) And we will add more flesh to the mix like blazing orange 20% + flesh 80%
9) And lastly we will highlight with only the flesh, sounds weird but it works
10) In this step i havend do anything to the beard, but its here cause the shadows where given before the last pics, and the effect of the miniature with the shadows like in the actual pic make it look way better.
One last thing the pics above are bigger than normal, cause i want to show you how to paint it giving shadows and hightlights the pic velow is the dwarf loke 3 times its size so you can see the more or less real size.
And this is the end of the step by step.
